At the moment outer space seems unreachable to the common person. We hear stories of Astronauts and see pictures and videos of the International Space Station and other planets, but it all seems like the adventures and discoveries of other people. That is a fact that might be changing and sooner than you think. A sort of renaissance is happening in space-related industries and its all geared toward making space more available to the people of Earth.
Recently, at the White House Frontiers Conference, experts from six space industry groups came to talk about the future of space exploration. It seems that the future is mostly in the hands of the private sector and they are dedicated to the idea that getting into space should be easier for everyone.
These groups are driving down the costs of getting into orbit, pushing the boundaries of our current technology, improving satellites, and providing complete data analysis that makes space operations possible. They are providing interactive research gadgets on the International Space Station that allow schools and other groups to do their own zero gravity research. One group wants make the Moon a resource that will benefit the world economy and another group is focused on bringing human beings to Mars.
The infographic below has the details on who these groups are and what they are up to.
